Programme Facilitator

Various NYAS has been successful in its bid to provide court ordered parenting assessments. The programme will consist of two evening sessions for two hours’ duration. This will be based upon group work. Individual sessions in exceptional circumstances may be delivered subject to prior agreement from CAFCASS which is funding the programmes. NYAS will deliver the programmes across four NYAS sites: NYAS House Contact Centre Birkenhead, NYAS office Guildford, NYAS office Birmingham and NYAS Cymru office in Mold. We are therefore seeking to recruit sessional facilitators from existing NYAS advocates and caseworkers who are interested in this area of work to enhance their skills and knowledge base. A flat fee of £50 will be paid for each session to each facilitator. Each session will require two facilitators. To all interested applicants in the positions for CAFCASS Parenting Course facilitators With regard to the recruitment of facilitators for the Parenting Courses due to start early in the New Year, internal applicants, who have worked for NYAS less than 2 years, will not need to fill in an application form and will only be required to register an expression of interest with Colin Croft or Freda O’Hare, and also advise us of the name of the person managing them, so that HR can apply to them for a reference in the event of the applicant being selected for interview. Applicants who have worked for NYAS for over 2 years, in addition to the requirement s above, will also be required to fill in an internal application form, albeit in not too much detail.

Black Country This project works in partnership with the local authorities of Dudley, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Telford & Wrekin and Sandwell. An Independent Visitor (IV) befriends a young person who is looked after by the local authority - either in a Residential unit or with foster carers - and who has little or no contact with their own parents. By becoming one of our volunteers you can offer friendship and support to a young person as someone who is outside of the care system. NYAS is a national children's rights charity working to recruit, train and support adult volunteers to be Independent Visitors for children and young people who are looked-after by their local authority. We need motivated, child focussed volunteers to befriend children and young people who have little or no local or family contact. You don't need special qualifications, but patience, stamina and a non-judgmental attitude are essential. You will need to commit a few hours each month. In return for your commitment we can offer you training, support and the reimbursement of expenses.
