The National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS) is a long established and independent national children’s charity providing socio-legal services. We offer information, advice, advocacy and legal representation to children, young people and vulnerable adults in care or care leavers, through a network of dedicated paid workers and volunteers throughout England and Wales.
With our current Chair due to retire, NYAS has a unique opportunity for a new Chairperson to lead the board. We are seeking to appoint another inspirational, passionate and committed individual who can build on our 30 years of strong foundations and work collaboratively with our Chief Executive and her Exec team to lead NYAS through the next stage in its evolution and raising our profile with the wider public.
We are looking for a new Chair who shares our passion for ensuring that every child’s voice matters and should be listened to when important decisions are made about their life and future care.
You will be leading a high profile, committed and engaged Board of Trustees to ensure our services make a sustained and strategic difference to the lives of children and young people in care, or leaving care.
You will be comfortable in an ambassadorial role, able to build and develop relationships at the highest levels and offer sound strategic support to the Chief Executive and her Executive Team. You will have the gravitas to engage credibly with a wide range of stakeholders, both public and private sector.
You will have extensive expertise and experience in the field of child care law and/or practice.
