Some young people may at times in their lives be required to be accommodated in secure accommodation placements. An independent person may be required to ensure their rights are not being infringed upon.

By the end of this course, learners will:

• Understand the nature and purpose of a Secure Accommodation Review Panel (SARP)
• Be familiar with the SARP process, as well as the relevant legislation, guidance and best practice frameworks
• Be able to reflect on the different roles of the SARP panel members, including that of the independent person
• Know what rights young people have in SARP reviews
