Training

NYAS is now established as a leading training provider in the field of advocacy and children's rights. We have delivered advocacy training for over 25 years, building an impressive portfolio of courses, which are available to agencies.

NYAS trainers are highly experienced and have a range of backgrounds including social work, child protection, residential care, social care inspection, fostering and teaching. Young people are involved in the delivery and planning of training and receive training support. Our goal is for all training to be co-delivered with young trainers.

We are recognised as an accredited assessment centre for City & Guilds and OCN (Open College Network) to deliver training.

We offer accredited training including the National Advocacy Qualification and specialist units including the IMHA (independent mental health advocacy) award. We provide bespoke training packages for public, voluntary and private sector organisations. NYAS has trained hundreds of children’s advocates and participation workers in England and Wales.

Events and Engagements
Alongside the delivery of training courses, NYAS representatives are regularly invited to speak at national and local conferences. Recent topics have included; "Making advocacy accessible for children with disabilities", "Advocacy for young people with mental health problems", "Safeguarding Children and Young people through Advocacy" and “The rights of looked after children".
