NYAS' child and family advocacy services can help care-experienced children, young people and adults in vulnerable situations understand their rights, make informed decisions and have their voices heard on matters that are important to them.

Independent Monitoring Service

Independent Monitoring Service

Since 2010, NYAS' Independent Monitoring Service has supported private and local authority residential children’s home providers, residential special schools, family assessment centres and CQC regulated colleges across England, Wales and Scotland by providing rigorous and impartial monthly assessments. Independent Visitor Service

An Independent Visitor is an adult volunteer who befriends and spends time with children in care, creating special memories and becoming someone they can rely on. Could you volunteer and make a difference to a local young person in care?

NYAS legal services represent children in family law proceedings throughout England and Wales in cases where the child’s parents are unable to agree on the arrangements for their child.

Mental Health Advocacy

NYAS offers specialised mental health advocacy to support adults and young people in inpatient settings, including those being cared for under the Mental Health Act. Our team of advocates will ensure their rights are upheld and their voices heard when important decisions are being made that will impact their care.

Return Home Interviews

Return Home Interviews

NYAS offers return home interviews for children and young people who have run away from home. A return home interview provides an opportunity for a young person to explain why they went missing to an independent interviewer and understand what needs to be put in place to prevent them from going missing again.
