Leaving care or transitioning towards independence can be a complex time and process for care leavers. They may not be aware of the support they may be entitled to, or their eligibility rights as care leavers.

This course is recommended for advocacy professionals who already work with young people who are leaving care and transitioning towards independence, or advocates wishing to develop their understanding to be able to do so.

Leaving Care or Transitioning Towards Independence: Explained

Striking out into the world on your own for the first time can be exciting as you discover your newfound independence, but it can also be a time of great uncertainty for care experienced young people who are about to leave the care system.

Care leaver entitlements vary across local authorities, so it's important that the advocacy professionals supporting young people can help them discover what they're entitled to, and how their rights continue to be upheld into adulthood.
