Children’s rights and entitlements are important because they protect their well-being, ensure access to opportunities and services, and empower them to have a voice in decisions that affect their lives.

This course is recommended for advocacy professionals who already undertake rights-based advocacy with children and young people in need or care, or advocates wishing to develop their understanding to be able to do so.

Supporting Children and Young People in Need or Care with their Rights and Entitlements: Explained

Children and young people in need or care have many rights and entitlements, which they don't often know about or understand. Understanding rights and entitlements is fundamental for children and young people as they support them in navigating systems and accessing opportunities.

Empowering children and young people in need or care to understand their rights and entitlements relating to Local Authority processes is one of the many ways advocates can help their voices be heard.
