Coming through the child protection process can be a difficult and complex time for children and young people. Understanding the process enables advocates to support them more effectively.

This course is recommended for advocacy professionals who already undertake child protection advocacy, or advocates wishing to develop their understanding to be able to do so.

The Child Protection Process Explained

The goal of any child protection process is for relevant agencies, organisations, and the government to work together with one united goal; to protect, promote, and safeguard the welfare of children. This includes identifying children who are at risk of harm and implementing support for them to reach their full potential.

Course Content

Upon completion of this training, learners will:

  • Have a greater understanding of the child protection process as a whole, including how and why referrals may be made and escalated.
  • Understand the role of the advocate at different stages of the process, including during child protection conferences and core group meetings.
  • Be aware of the disproportionate number of care-experienced young parents involved in child protection processes, and understand how to support them.

This child protection process training will be delivered via a live, interactive webinar, by a member of our highly experienced training team.
