Coming into care through the child protection process can be a difficult and complex time for a child or young person. Understanding the process will enable the advocate to support them more effectively.

This course is recommended for practitioners and anyone else wishing to develop their understanding about the child protection process.

The Child Protection Process Explained

The goal of any child protection process is for relevant agencies, organisations and the government to work together with one united goal; to protect, promote and safeguard the welfare of children. This includes identifying children who are at risk of harm, and implementing support for them to reach their full potential.

Course Content

Upon completion of this training, learners will:

  • Have a greater understanding of the child protection process as a whole, including how and why referrals may be made and escalated
  • Understand the role of the advocate at different stages of the process, including child protection conferences and core group meetings
  • Be aware of the disproportionate number of care-experienced young parents involved in child protection processes, and understand how to support them

This child protection process training will be delivered via a live, interactive webinar. The training session will be delivered by a member of our highly experienced training team.
