Professional Development

Our practice-based courses offering covers a range of topics, including acting as an appropriate adult during age assessment processes, undertaking return-home interviews, and supporting children and young people during child protection or statutory complaints processes. All of our professional development courses are aimed at professionals who are already working within relevant roles, and who would like to develop their confidence and skills in practical situations.

We have designed our courses to also benefit individuals who currently work alongside such professionals and who want to gain insight into the responsibilities and limitations of particular roles.

All of our professional development sessions are designed to convey the essential knowledge of the topic in a clear, concise, and engaging way. Our courses include supporting resources for further independent study.

What is Practice-Based Training?

Practice-based training focuses on applying knowledge to real-life situations. This is typically done through case studies and discussions with fellow professionals. All attendees receive a personalised certificate of attendance at the end of each course.

One of the key aims of our practice-based courses is to improve your self-awareness and ability to critically reflect on your professional practice. Through this reflection, we hope that you are able to provide the highest standard of delivery for the children, young people and vulnerable adults you work with.

If you are interested in bespoke training for your organisation, please contact the NYAS Learning and Development team via training@nyas.net to discuss your requirements.
