My Things Matter, a NYAS Campaign supported by Madlug, took home The Partnership Working Award at the National Children and Young People Awards 2022 last night.
What are The National Children and Young People Awards?
The National Children and Young People Awards 2022 took place on Thursday 6th October and was hosted at ICC in Birmingham. The awards were hosted by Care Talk, a magazine that is written exclusively to promote and celebrate positive care.
Every year, these awards celebrate examples of excellence for children, young people and families who are part of the care system in some way. They also showcase the innovation and best practice within the care sector, spotlighting individuals and organisations who excel in their service to care experienced children and young people.
Ben Twomey, NYAS Director for Policy and Communications, and Tobiloba Osogbiye, NYAS Public Affairs and Engagement Officer, attended the awards alongside Dave Linton, CEO and Founder of Madlug, our campaign partners for My Things Matter.
We are delighted to have won this prestigious award, recognising the value of working together to create change for children and young people. We are incredibly grateful for the children and young people who have shaped My Things Matter and continue to be our focus, and also want to thank our partners at Madlug who are a vital part of our efforts. We will not stop campaigning until every child has the best possible moving experience while in care.

Which Award Did NYAS Win?
Our My Things Matter campaign was shortlisted for The Partnership Working Award. We were nominated alongside Madlug, as this award recognises organisations who have worked together to place children and young people at the centre of their work. This award is all about organisations coming together to emphasise the importance of the child or young person.

After being shortlisted, Ben, Dave and Aisha, a member of the NYAS Campaigns Advisory Group, attended a judging panel interview. The judges then used our application, and our interview to decide who should win the award.
It is an honour to be shortlisted alongside so many fantastic projects, so congratulations to all of our fellow nominees, particularly Wolverhampton Council who secured the Highly Commended Award.
NYAS and Madlug are absolutely thrilled to have won The Partnership Working Award, and this recognition only spurs us on further to ensure every child in care is treated with dignity and respect.
