In our daily lives and work, we all use advocacy skills, often without realising it. Using advocacy skills in practical healthcare settings can help with meaningful engagement, enabling advocacy partners we are working alongside to find and amplify their voices.
This training has been designed for frontline healthcare and support practitioners working directly with patients and service users in health and community healthcare settings. It's likely to be suitable for healthcare assistants, nurses across a range of settings, community and mental health support staff, care coordinators, patient-facing support roles and allied health professionals such as occupational therapists. speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, dieticians and rehabilitation teams.
Applying advocacy in healthcare settings enables us to understand how to promote the views, wishes and feelings of our advocacy partners more effectively, empowering them towards enhanced self-advocacy. This training explores how to engage and empower advocacy partners in healthcare settings, strengthen communication and advocacy skills, and support informed, rights-based decision-making while navigating barriers, boundaries and complex systems.
